AT AGE 12 SHE WAS GIVEN AS A GIFT TO THE SLAVE MASTER.
AT 23 SHE WAS BEATEN TO DEATH BECAUSE SHE WAS TOO
EXHAUSTED TO SERVICE THE WAGON MASTER'S GUEST.
ANNA WAS NEVER ALLOWED TO LOOK AT ANYONE, FOR SHE
WAS DEEMED "UNWORTHY" TO MAKE CONTACT WITH ANOTHER
PERSON'S EYES.
